Get to Know the Dedicated Forgotten Paws Team!
Stephanie Ulam VanElls, President

If you know anyone from our team, you probably know Stephanie because she’s a powerhouse in the animal community in Berkeley County! She used to serve on the board of Friends of Berkeley Animal Center, but it’s always been her goal to start an organization of her own, thus Forgotten Paws of the South was born.
Outside of Forgotten Paws, she helps facilitate the monthly TNVR programs in Berkeley County (Berkeley County Community Cats) and she plays a big part in the low-cost spay/neuter program known as Lowcountry Pet Fixers. She has a true passion for protecting the animals in our community and we’re lucky to have her as our fearless leader.
Zachary VanElls, Vice President

Yes, you caught that right, this is the lucky husband of our President, Stephanie!
Zach’s first pick up line to Stephanie was that he wanted to help her start and run an animal rescue, so the fact that Forgotten Paws of the South is a thing is now is really full circle for them!
Zach is newer to the animal community but he’s certainly no stranger! For years now he’s been helping Stephanie trap cats for TNVR and he even makes a celebrity appearance now and then at Berkeley County Community Cats‘ monthly clinics. He’s also a proud dad to his 3 dogs and 1 crazy little kitten. Zach’s ready to jump right in and start doing big things for the animals in our community.
Jennifer Mowatt Navarro, Treasurer

Jenn has been involved in the animal community in Berkeley County for over 2 years now in so many ways. She fosters pets from Berkeley Animal Center and she is one of the volunteer coordinators at Berkeley County Community Cats – in fact if you’ve come through this clinic recently, she’s probably been one of the people to check you in!
You might say cats are her specialty because she almost always has 6 or 7 at a time PLUS any fosters she takes in. Needless to say she’s our resident cat care guru and we love her for it!
Zoe Menendez,, Secretary

Along with Stephanie and Jenn, Zoe is one of the volunteer coordinators at Berkeley County Community Cats and if you’ve been through that clinic then you’ve probably seen her face before. She’s also the mind behind our Facebook page and this website!
Her experience lies mostly within caring for colonies of community cats in her neighborhoods, but she also helps trap other community cats for people in the community. Just like Zach she’s a bit newer to the this world but she’s ready to learn all she can and make a different for the pets and animals in our community!
